Air Travel: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
The talks about a baggage handlers strike at Stansted Airport over the Easter weekend, which were luckily cancelled, got us thinking about the best and worst aspects of air travel. Most of us have had flights where everything has just gone wonderfully smoothly and without any hitches, while other times it seems that nothing goes right.
Here’s a light hearted look at some of the good, the bad and the ugly things about travelling by plane…
The Good
Provided everything goes according to plan, these are some of the things we love about flying:
- The chance to catch up on some of the movies we didn’t manage to see at the cinema
- Time to read, listen to music, or whatever, without feeling guilty that we should be doing something else
- An unexpected upgrade
- It’s so much quicker than any other means of travel
- It makes the world a smaller place and allows us to visit places we never could otherwise
The Bad
These are the aspects we’re not as keen on:
- Getting up early to catch a flight
- Queuing to check in
- Keeping kids entertained on a long flight
- Listening to other people’s children screaming
- Sitting next to strangers
The Ugly
When it all goes horribly wrong:
- You only realise you’ve forgotten your passport when you try to check in
- You can’t figure out what keeps setting off the security scanner
- The flight is delayed or, even worse, cancelled
- The person next to you snores loudly, has garlic breath or wants to chat to you for the entire duration of the flight
- You make it to the other side only to find out your luggage has gone missing
There’s not a lot we can do to make your flights better, but at DeSalis we can make your life easier when you depart or arrive. Our hotel is just 5 minutes away from Stansted Airport and we operate a shuttle service every 20 minutes around the clock, so you can get there and back as quickly and easily as possible. You’ll love our comfortable modern accommodation and popular Indian restaurant too, so give us a call next time you’re travelling via Stansted.
