From Stansted to London in Less than an Hour
Staying in a hotel near Stansted Airport rather than in London itself is a much more affordable way to visit our country’s capital city. The Stansted Express has made it a cinch to get into London, so it really isn’t necessary to fork out for an expensive London hotel.
During ordinary hours the Stansted Express leaves from Stansted Airport every 15 minutes, so it’s easy to catch it at any time of day, and it will usually have you in London Liverpool Street in about 46 minutes. It also stops at Tottenham Hale on the way (the only stop it makes) giving you even more options for exploring London.
Take a look at the Stansted Airport timetable if you want more details and to check when trains are running late at night or early in the morning, as well as weekends.
Liverpool Street Station gives you easy access to the City of London and you can get on a number of different London Underground lines, including the Central Line, Circle Line, Metropolitan Line and Hammersmith and City Line. Getting off a little earlier at Tottenham Hale Station will give you access to the Victoria Line. Between these two stations it’s simple to get to most places, whether you fancy a bit of sightseeing, shopping or theatre.
The Stansted Express used to be a bit of a joke, with dirty outdated trains, but it’s had a revamp and the new trains are much more pleasant to travel on. You can also buy tickets on their website, and they’ve now also launched the option of having them sent directly to your mobile or smartphone via text message, making it even easier to book your tickets when travelling.
If you stay at the DeSalis Hotel near Stansted we also offer a shuttle service to and from the airport, so getting into London couldn’t be simpler. Why pay more for an overpriced hotel in central London when you can stay at a hotel near Stansted Airport for a fraction of the price and get into the city with so little hassle?
