Olympic Torch Passes through Stansted

Crowd of people

Spectators came out in their hundreds on Saturday 7th July to watch the Olympic Torch make its way through Stansted. It was a proud moment for all who attended, with many waving flags or wearing the England colours to celebrate this amazing event. Even the rain showers could not dampen the spirits of those in attendance.

The torch was carried by three different bearers through the town and was a proud moment for all of them. They were picked from many hundreds of deserving nominees and was a once in a life time experience for them.

The police kept the crowds entertained by giving high fives as they passed on their motorbikes, before the Coca Cola and Samsung trucks who are the official sponsors of the games came through the town followed by the torch bearers themselves.

Stansted airport being one of the main airports for games ticket holders to fly in and out of will be putting on extra security and a bus will run direct to the Olympic village while the games are on making the journey easy for those lucky enough to attend.

The torch is nearing the end of its 8,000 mile journey. It is making its way to the Olympic Stadium in East London where it will open the 2012 Olympic Games on the 27th July. Let the games begin!
